If technology is same, DVB-S2 MPEG4, and the TP bandwidth is same, ie:36 MHz, then yes channel count should be same...
but, then these DTH ops use various compression technologies as well, so the difference in count can be there.
Also, how much a channel is compressed is individual choice of every DTH. :k
 
Hmm.. Thx bro. Well I came up with this question after m_saket bro post on this thread saying Airtel survival will be tough coming 2014 onwards.. :-)
 
definitely tatasky will add more channels than airtel with same 12 TPs. But what about airtel's 12 th TP..? Have they enough space to add remaining HD channels...?
 
Thats a worrying thing, we dont have a clue abt what is happening to adtv 12th TP, and why they arent activating it. :huh

My prediction is, airtel will have a tough time in 2015, bcoz by then, they wud have completely exhausted their TP space. :s
 
I really don't know how ppl. are so sure TS will be able to add more channels on the same space than Airtel,.

shawl_who bro what about TS then? Why only tough time ahead of Airtel?
 
tata sky is good Encoder And They Can Easy Add 40-50 channels in per transponder
 
Am not getting it what encoder? Any name? Can't Airtel deploy that? Really Airtel have no option to survive? I mean what I know is Airtel always fights back they might have few tricks up there sleeves.. Don't you agree..

If a dth op compresses a channel slightly,then quality isn,t affected.
Airtel,s one tp has also 39sd channels.
 
@destiny bro: TS had less channels in their TPs, as they were in MPEG2 format, hence consuming more space. Airtel's TPs on an avg have have 34 channels on each TP.

After MPEG4 conversion, TS can add only few more channels, I think abt 100 odd.
After that, they too will feel d heat. TS channel list is still way behind other DTH ops.


@piinku bro: That TP is having 41 channels. Most of DD channels are on that TP, and quality is compromised on all of them.
