Completely awed by Sun Risers leggie Amit Mishra’s hat-trick that stunned the Pune Warriors into defeat yesterday, team owners, the Sun TV network, has decided to launch a new channel, Mishra TV, in his honour.
At a press conference during the launch function of the channel, Sun network chief Kalanidhi Maran, said, “Mishra thambi has done exceedingly well, paa. So breaking any anti-Hindi sentiments that may exist, the Sun TV network will start its first Hindi channel based in New Delhi, Mishra TV. It is only fair that we honour him this way. The Sun Network’s roots have already branched out in South India with channels like Udaya TV, Surya TV, Gemini TV and so on. This is the first time we will be branching out to North India and thereby, trying to reach the Hindi-speaking audience. Since the DMK is no longer with the UPA, it is important for us to charm all sections of India, in our attempt to become a party of national significance.”
“For a start, Mishra TV will have the Hindi dubbed versions of Tamil serials that run on Sun TV, which we hope should become big hits with the Hindi audience too, as they have been subject to a decade of Ekta Kapoor. Also, shows like Comedy Time will be there in Hindi too – Vadivel and Goundamani scenes will make way for Rahul Gandhi’s speeches and Arnab Goswami’s Newshour snippets. Apart from that, we’re also hoping to rope in someone to anchor the Hindi version of Arattai Arangam. T. Rajendar is persistent that he himself anchor the Hindi version too, after exhibiting his Hindi skills, by telling us ‘Pyaar toh wunka jhoota ghey, jo jismugu chaagathu karthey ghey‘ etc, Daya and I are wondering how to politely decline it,” Maran added.
“Our only big problem is Pattimandiram on every festival, paa. Dunno who can suitably anchor that in Hindi,” said a worried Maran.
