Good News Bought Sun Direct FTA Box

Bought it from a Sunshine centre near me.

They did not know about it lol.

But they could see it in their system for 1099 box+activation charge.

Box is the same box that's used for a regular connection. Nothing special. They will activate the account before they handover the box to you. Just connect to dish and perform a refresh of the box from the app for new connection.



Audio quality of Sun is far superior compared to TataPlay, Airtel, Dishtv and D2H. This will probably be my last DTH. They use variable bitrate for audio compression which results in much better audio quality. This means someone at their end with a brain for customer satisfaction and an eye for quality has ensured that quality is not thrown out the window in the name of compression.


HD channel quality is comparable to Tataplay. Since they use HEVC for HD, the contrast ratio is very good and colours are great too. SD quality is same as TataPlay.



Channel branding is almost invisible. This is the best part of this dth. No ugly opaque obstructive dth branding.

Last 1 year I have been using sundirect for myself and parents I would say Sundirect provides better picture and audio qualities compared with others. And branding also nearly invisible and UI doesn't contain any advertisements..

I was just going to add that part. You can also recharge for just 10 rupees. It's great experience so far.

I mainly watch English, Hindi and Punjabi. Although ptc music is not there, ptc chakde, mh1 and 9xTashan are present and have video quality and audio quality as good as their C band stream from 68°e and 83°e parent sources. The Hindi movies channels have very decent quality which is definitely better than ddfreedish. I don't watch any South channel.

I also bought zing a few months ago but the cost of channels is quality is very disappointing. Not forgetting to mention the huge opaque and ugly zing logo on the screen. It's just a png image, they could have added some transparency on it.
