Colors to air Israeli format show ‘Win the Crowd’ under name ‘India Banega Manch’

After launching the live singing reality show ‘Rising Star’, Colors is planning to present its viewers with yet another live format, ‘Win the Crowd’, which will be retitled ‘India Banega Manch’.

A source informed that the channel is planning to launch this new format by May and that it will run for three months. The interactive show will take place on the streets with no audience, no votes and no judges.

‘Win the Crowd’ is an Israeli format that was created by Studio Glam in 2013. The format features contestants—singers, dancers, jugglers, anyone with a unique talent—perform on the streets for about seven minutes.

The performer should try to attract the largest crowd. For every person that stops to watch, the performer scores one point. The show features two hosts who monitor the scores from the control room. After the performance, every performer is invited by the hosts to view his/her score. A performer with a higher score than the previous performer gets to stay. A lower score sends the contestant home.

Whether Colors will follow the original Israeli format or tweak it for the Indian audience is not yet known. Nevertheless, the entries for the contestants to participate have started pouring in.

This is the second interactive format show that Colors will be launching this year. Currently, the channel is working on its live singing reality show ‘Rising Star’, which will run for three and a half months. The format, acquired from Keshet International, has given the power of verdict to the viewers. The course of the show is decided by the audience through voting in real time.

While ‘Rising Star’ is more of a digital engagement, ‘Win the Crowd’ is based on on-ground engagement as it lets the audience watch the contestants perform live on the streets.

Besides these two shows, Colors non-fiction line-up comprises ‘Jhalak Dhikla Ja’, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, ‘India’s Got Talent’, ‘Bigg Boss’, ‘Mission Sapne’, ‘Chotte Miyan’ and more.

While the new season of ‘Chotte Miyan Dhakkad’ is set to launch in March, the new season of ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ is scheduled for an August launch.

Bollywood director Rohit Shetty is back to host the new season of the stunt reality game show. The last season featured Arjun Kapoor as the host, but the actor could not continue this year due to his film commitment.

While the last season of ‘KKK’ was shot in Argentina, this year it will be shot in Spain.

Produced by Endemol, ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ is based on the internationally famed format ‘Fear Factor’, which is filmed in four countries—Malaysia, South Africa, Argentina and Spain. The shooting for ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ will kick off in early April.
