Here comes a social app that lets you watch television channels on the go - on your mobile devices and tablets.

In what is claimed to be the first-of-its-kind app, which is launched by first generation entrepreneurs, Beerajah Sswain, Sanjay Bhat and Antony Vendhan, Floats promises to make TV viewing a shared experience. So, you would be able to know which programmes are the favorites of your friends and contacts on social media as well. And you can not only watch those shows, but can share and post comments real-time, while simultaneously publicizing across social platforms, stated a release.

It added that users could choose to take opinion polls, react to advertiser content, channel content, like or comment on posts, providing an instant measure to advertisers and broadcasters on the success of their programmes.

According to Sswain, co-founder, Floats, "Currently, no Indian app connects across more than 500 Indian channels across genres, though a few channels in a limited way, are starting to create a similar mechanism restricted only to their news network. Floats will help viewers with better content discovery, along with connecting friends and strangers across passion points and TV content. Though it is hard to predict any numbers beyond a year, we expect to clock around half-a-million downloads from the upcoming IPL season, which is a perfect event for a social TV experience."

"We are currently in talks with advertisers around this IPL season to use this 2nd screen experience and measure engagement across their TV campaigns. Never before have advertisers, heard it straight from the horse's mouth - direct engagement with viewers of a TV program. Floats will change the way the broadcast and advertiser fraternity have so far worked together," added Antony.

Floats is specifically launched for the Android and iOS platforms, and is aimed at phone makers attracting popular social content to boost further consumer adoption.

Floats is now out in Beta and is available on the Google Play Store and Come IPL, and you can watch TV channels on mobiles - CIOL. The iOS version will be available in the subsequent weeks, announced the release.
