Hi,
D2H has the option to set the HD video resolution to 1080i @ 60Hz. This option was added in the last firmware update (end of Dec 2012). Im currently using my HD LED tv with this setting.

As far as I know none of the DTH providers support 1080p.

Hope that helps!
1.
You are right. So far the Hd telecast is in 720p only and it can be blown up to 1080i at the viewers choice.
2.As you are currently using 60Hz settings does it mean your TV supports 60Hz telecast. Almost all the TVs marketed in India doesn't support 60Hz (not aware of Sony LCD/LED. In CTR models Sony used to market 7 color system TVs)

i have samsung LED tv sony LED tv and a videocon LCD tv all support 60hz ....which brabd doesnot support 60 hz ????

What difference between ntsc and pal
Basically the difference is display of picture frames per second-
it is 30fps in NTSC and 25fps in PAL apart from pixel aspect ratio and frame size

It couldn't get the PAL/NTSC spec from the TV manual. But the TV supports a maximum resolution of 1080p @ 60Hz and currrently the resolution being shown is 1080i @ 60Hz. The TV is working both at 50Hz and 60Hz.

Your Tv may support both 60Hz and 50Hz but not all the TVs. My Samsung Tv supports only 60Hz hence I am using external device ie.signal converter for Tatasky STB.
The telecast in India and many countries in Asia/Europe the telecast is in 50Hz only and your D2h STB has the option to covert it to 60Hz which Tatasky STB has no such option and the discussion started from there.

Most of the TVs(LCDs/LEDs from SAMSUNG N SONY above 32" &full Hd capable) in Asia (atleast India are mullti system models

Many models imported from USA are NTSC only

@soorya_g which model tv your using?

Samsung 42" -4 series brought from US.Supports NTSC /60Hz signal only

50/60Hz is frequency at which tv updates its screen

50 Hz updates its picture 50times per second and so on

I am no expert at this, some one expert here pls throw more light
