Can anybody tell why these private channels participate in auction of DDFD and spends in crores to book a slot in DDFD??

I mean to say what's there benefits of this?

Do these channels take part in DDFD just to earn from Advertisement.
As advertisers are more interested to those channels who have more reach/audience.

Basically in North the trend to have paid cable and DTH is loosing pace as DDFD is picking up in a big way previously only in villages andc now in major cities also,many have stopped recharging thier paid DTH and shifted to DDFD,and this is attracting advertisers to these channels,North means from MP to Jammu Kashmir and from Bihar to Gujarat.This is a huge population and this is the reason for this shift
