understood, but Star can retain with less sports channels rather than either closing their business, else they have to transfer all these rights to others like ICC tv rights
ICC digital - Viacom eagerly will get it
IPL - Again Sports 18 will absorb it
Aus rights - have to transfer to Sony / Zee, i don't think Viacom will interest in this rights
I think the plans to sell sports & ott buisness came after ICC auction. Now they are not actively participating in biggie auctions - BCCI, ISL etc.
BCCI rights suited to Reliance/Viacom18, like Neo and Star had rights to promote network channels and Contents. But every year they have Rights to air BCCI 70 matches in 140 playing days only for all Men and Women's cricket, if they aired 10 test matches and 10 Ranji Trophy, then lapsed 100 days.

Reliance/Viacom18 and Star Sports still Remain ISL owners up to 2024/2025 season, that's why other broadcasters didn't shows interest, both will share Profit/Loss, after that FSDL Rights expires Unlikely they renew league ownership Rights maybe AIFF takeover. they may control league like BCCIs IPL.

Sports18/Viacom18 can't bear the high cost of IPL TV rights as they have low cost BCCI rights now.

Lol Low cost BCCI media Rights, 201 Crores + cost 3 matches ODI already aired just 1/2 sponsor. yeah Of course Viacom18 lost 200 crores.

Innovations always good, but advertisers in cost cut mode. Lots of legacy companies stopped spending money on advertising post covid, just look D11 almost stopped advertising, they know their game almost over can't pay huge Tax/GST, founder may go London and only his uncle Motabhai can afford to buy D11.

moreover Innovation can't change fact that Sports 18/Jio parent Company entering in every sector vs asking Sponsorship/Ads from competitors like airtel, pepsico, phonepe, Amazon. It's also strategy maybe competitors slowly understand they're spending on wrong place.

They have their own ads like Retail, Telecom etc., but Ads in TV business will decline as Netflix and Prime Video prepares for pushing ads from Next year.

they are entering in every sector. Google, Meta, X, Amazon, Netflix not in every Sector/business like Reliance, overall it's Good opportunity for small and medium Brands/companies advertising in these Non Competitors platforms.

Amazon have Digital streaming, E-commerce and Retail stores (MORE branded), where as Reliance have multiple businesses like TATA and BIRLA. So, We can't restrict them in one business. :D
