Viacom18 can buyout zee network. And sony can join hands with star india.

Viacom18 will get good content to push for jio cinema.

Whereas disney and sony who dont have intrest in ott rather more on distribution can form a content power house.

Win win for all.

Zee promoters might unwilling to sell to Viacom18/Ambani, but Sony-Star combine can face CCI objections for TV network(GEC/Movie channels), except for OTT (not regulated by Govt) and Sports channels(some sports channels might shutdown).

Im not sure. But isnt one of the ambanis board member in zee
 
People close to the matter have informed that Sony's top brass in Japan is frustrated with the Sony-ZEEL merger that was expected to be done by 31 March 2022 but is still hanging in the balance. This has led the Sony's bosses to think of a plan B. The company will act fast in acquiring Disney India, if the Sony-ZEEL merger takes more time due to inordinate delays or if it is shelved.

Won't be surprised if later on we see Sony and Viacom18 having a partnership while Disney might have some merger with Amazon Prime Video for its OTT platform Disney+Hotstar as already many 20th Century Fox/Studios, Marvel, Disney movies available on rent basis on Amazon Prime Video and for its TV business they may partner with different partners in ROI , South India region . Disney might as well dilute some stake to a partner in both TV + OTT business while expanding its content syndication pact for content across genres with various FTA broadcasters, OTT platforms thus improving revenue while reducing expenditure burden as same will get shared between partners....in DTH disney might sell its stake in Tata Play to Comcast

In some article i even read that Disney wants to enters news genre in India and is looking for a partner to do so....if in a market like US and UK they r relaunching linear TV Channels then one can just imagine that growth opportunity or importance TV Channels hold as an entertainment medium /business in India
 
I don't find any sense Sony acquiring Disney Star both network came up with same type of content with SET, Star Plus, Star Bharat, SET SAB, Max, 2, Wah, Star Gold, 2, Action, Romance. Whereas, SET doesn't have a good melodrama GEC ZEE can fullfill it easily.
Also, Star Plus was always a mixture with melodrama with few urban touch.
