As of now I think their target is to generate additional revenue to cove up the cost of STB replacements on migration to Mpeg4 which happened due to their bad planning.

Only hope is after complete migration as showcase will be applicable to all and they don't want to add channels in mpeg2 like &pictures. ROI migration is not over so they cannot add showcase right-now.

If they do it right now then there will be flood of call and email to cc demanding MPEG 4 box from all over India not just from one region. And their will be a complete chaos. Then their plan to convert mpeg 4 region wise will not hold. So it is good not to convert one showcase as free showcase right now and wait for migration process to be over.

Yes, they don't want to add new channel in MPEG 2, and 4 showcase channel sufficient for generating revenue,, hence no free mod.

Although I didn't find that these mid will continue free for longtime

but one free showcase is provided by all dth.. only Tatasky have not and that r also charging highest fees for showcase 100 rs for one showcase but dish tv is showing only 25 for the same movie

They moved 49 channels to Mpeg4 and added only 19 new channels so far.
Hence space is not the problem now. They can add free show case in Mpeg2 for the time being which may satisfy the customers of all languages.
If there is a will there a way.
