Will Jon Snow make it back from the ring of death or has his journey in Game of Thrones ended? Indian fans of the hugely popular international medieval fantasy TV show won't have to wait for long to know the answer.
English channel Star World Premiere will bring the much anticipated season six of the HBO series to India right after its US telecast in April this year, read a statement.
Other channels from the cluster -- Star World and Star World HD -- will also take the viewers through all the seasons of the show, which is a dramatic telling of a story of families vying for a throne. Also read: Game of Thrones does it again; becomes most pirated TV series in 2015
Seasons one to five will be aired on the channels from February 15.
The show, a fantasy show inspired by novelist George R.R. Martin's bestselling series, has racked up 12 Emmy awards from its 24 nominations in 2015.
An official Star India spokesperson said: "The telecast of Game of Thrones on Star World and Star World Premiere will not only excite existing fans but also captivate first time audiences in India. This is just the first in a line of exceptional content we have planned for the year." Also read: Game of Thrones to tone down sexual violence in season 6

Meanwhile, actress Sophie Turner who plays Sansa Stark on the show said the fans should be ready for "many shocks" in the upcoming sixth season of the fantasy series.
Turner, said the sixth season will be the biggest so far, reported Entertainment Weekly. "This season there's like so many shocks, it's massive. It's the biggest season yet. And just like in terms of character development, so many people's storylines, I'm excited for. It's going to be good," she said.
The actress added the season will also be big one for her character. Watch: Three new teasers of Game of Thrones hint at impending tragedies
"I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa. It's probably her best season yet. It's her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it's really good."

A new data rate record has been set that is fast enough to download an entire TV series in high-definition quality in less than a second.

The technology, developed by scientists at University College London (UCL), uses fiber-optic cables to achieve speeds of 1.125 terabits per second—50,000 times faster than the average broadband speed.

“We are working with sophisticated equipment in our lab to design the next generation core networking and communications systems that can handle data signals at rates in excess of 1 terabit per second,” said Robert Maher, a lead researcher at UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering, in a press release.

“For comparison, this is almost 50,000 times greater than the average speed of U.K. broadband connection of 24 megabits per second, which is the current speed defining ‘superfast’ broadband,” he added. “To give an example, the data rate we have achieved would allow the entire HD Game of Thrones series to be downloaded within one second.”

The research, published in the journal Scientific Reports, is part of a project funded by the U.K.’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, which was set up to investigate ways to improve network infrastructure to support the explosion of digital content.

Currently, the speeds that the UCL team managed can only be achieved under lab conditions but the researchers are using the breakthrough to study how the system can be used to improve data rates across long distances.

“This result is a milestone as it shows that terabit-per-second optical communications systems are possible in the quest to reach ever-higher transmission capacities in optical fibers that carry the vast majority of all data generated or received,” said Polina Bayvel, a principal investigator at UCL.

“A high-capacity digital communications infrastructure underpins the Internet and is essential to all aspects of the digital economy and everyday lives.”

Unfortunately even if we get that download speed now we still wont be able to download it in 1 second as the max write speed is somewhere around 500 Mbps. So I guess it ll take at least 1000 seconds if everything is ideal.
