Prateek:

3 STBs are required if you want to watch 3 different channel. If you connect single STB to multiple TVs, it will have single channel alone at a time in all the 3 TVs.

And RF port means, the old cable TV female type pin at the backside of the TV. Some STBs will have an RF out as well. My ADTV STB is having and I tested that too some 2 years ago and confirmed that it was working fine.

RE: General Discussion & Channel Request on Videocon D2H

I hope you visited many TV showrooms where same channel will be playing in all the TV sets. There will be one set top box and one remote for that. We are just taking the output of the STB and connecting it to multiple TVs as like how it was done in the show room. One STB can give you one display (channel) through the output. So, the same display (channel) will be there in all the connected TVs.

TVs connected to any STB (even single TV) is just acting like a display monitor to display the output of the STB. It is not like analog cable TV where we can connect to any number of TVs and enjoy different channels. Because, the analog system will require the TV to tune the frequency so that each TV can tune different frequency. But in DTH or in any digital cable, the set top box will tune the frequency and TV will act like a display monitor as I said before. Though multiple TVs are connected, only one STB will tune the frequency and only one frequency will be tuned by the box a given time.

I think this explains well.

it means that i m a dumb guy. i was not aware of this fact otherwise i wud have not purchased the third stb. i just purchased the tv n it was vacant for almost 2 years n after 2 years i purchased a new stb n then connect it to my vacant tv i.e. the new one.

if i knew it b4 then first i wud have not taken the third stb n second, my tv was not vacant for the almost 2 years.
btw any member of my family hardly watch this third tv but i m still paying for 241 rs per month :angry:angry:angry

@Prateek: If you are using the additional STB to watch it in additional TV and when watching in additional TV if you are not using the other TV, then the additional STB is not required. You could have tried this approach.

You need to buy the lengthier connecting cables and do proper lining. Also, mine is a RF set top box so that I can control the box using RF remove from anywhere and no need to operate in LOS (Line of Sight). This will not work with IR remotes if STB is not in LOS.
