In India, all channels broadcast interlaced format. Even when I compared 1080p and 1080i on my hevc hd box, I found 1080i video quality better than 1080p.
If you are watching a sports channel and select progressive(1080p) the moving objects look blurred. Whereas, in interlaced(1080i) the moving objects are more defined and picture quality is also sharper.
I am getting better picture quality by using 1080p with HDMI 2.0 cable in my 4K UHD 55 " TV...

AFAIK, Indian broadcasters provide 1080i for HD channels. Some stb may have 1080p resolution in settings but that's only upscaling 1080i picture.

1080p videos looks a lot better than 1080i. Watch this video to learn more about it.

Have already watched this video and gone through some technical blogs while I was researching on interlaced and progressive scans some months back. I always had my stb set at 1080p since installation as I thought this is the best. But when I switched to 1080i, I found the PQ sharper and less motion blur. So until broadcasters themselves switch to offering progressive resolution, I'll keep my HD setting at 1080i.

Absolutely Bang On Observation @Mr.Bhat Sir. I have purchased HDMI 2.0 separately and it is working Worth full with My Full HD TV. Also Audio as per Your observation working fine in HT. Thanx Sir for clarification.

Indian Broadcasters are mainly provides The Progressive Scan Refresh Rates as 1080p for HD Channels. So 1080i have not so much Difference as the Broadcasters till not providing that. May be I wrong - Let other Experts put some Light on it.
Yestersay I installed new Tata sky HD box which has only 1080i resulation option. I connected my old HDMI cable of D2H, but its not working. What is the reason for it. And can I get 1080P resulation by changing of HDMI cable?

I'm using LG 50" FULL HD TV. I'm using HDMI provided by Tata Sky. Do you recommend changing the HDMI cable?
