Gsat 10 still can help tata sky save money. Since half of migration has only happened, tata sky is yet to spend 450 crores out of planned 900 crores. Now in any case they will need full gsat 10 or more alternatives in days to come. Because insat 4a will die and need will also grow. But till then if i have more tps, why to take pain in hurry and migrate all remaing regions? If that is the thought prevailing in tata sky management then this is good way to avoid spending 450 crores in immediate basis. FY expenditure calculation will look good if tata sky spends money slowly.

your point is correct as Gsat TPs might save hundreds of crores of rs for TS. Going slow for migration & adding new channels on new GSat TPs in mpeg2 are the indications of TS getting new TPs. So TS might only replace STBs in states where migration is already started. Thus they can save money which would have spent on freely distributing STBs to users or atleast delay & reschedule the activities. The total nos of channel addition on new TPs will also depend on TP space available & size of TP.

According to me ts should provide and replace STBs as per availabilities.this is a long process. If they convert channels at once then may create havoc.

Just now i have a chat with my source about new channel addition when i ask him about the addition of Zkalinga,focus news,haryana what you said before when this channels launching on ts..than i was surprised by what he said he said me that currently ts testing zkalinga &5 more channels from z network,4 Focus network channels &8 dd channels along with some regional channels&7 HD Channels on Gsat-10 tp 11080 V 33000 dvbs-2 8pskfor HD&11060 V 28500 dvbs-2 8psk for SD channels but currently there is no signal on those 2 tps than i asked her why ts added recently chs on insat 4a than he said me bcuz insat4a has now 8 tps in mpeg2 and we want to launch those channels in in mpeg2 as the migration for kids chs has not started so we launched all kids chs in mpeg2 than i asked why you launched rishtey&Zaction in mpeg4 on insat4a an not on Gsat-10 than he said bcuz this 2 chs want to be avail soon on ts and for that this 2 chs has paid huge money to us so we have launched this 2 channels in insat4a and not on Gsat-10 an all new chs will launch in mpeg4 on Gsat-10 as all tps on Gsat-10 will be in dvbs-2 8psk means all in mpeg4 and insat4a will be use for launching new mpeg2 channels from the regions which are still not migrated

I guess they invested 900 crores on stb. So even if there is half migration done then to they will be full expenditure to be made as all mpeg 2 boxes will almost be useless.

Not exactly. There are still viewers who have subscribed packs with only mpeg2 channels. So may not be exactly half, but considerable money is yet to be spent. But in any case gsat 10 for tata sky is always needed.

And one thing ts has still not decided the date of activaiting the new tps of Gsat-10 and launching of new channels..my source said Me that by this month ts will activate the tps but he does not know the exact date
