Using universal remote from adtv since long...never had any problems.
Moreover it gives low battery alert too

I am using Airtel Universal remote from past 3 years.

Did you face any problem sunveer while using universal remote for devices other than your STB.

No problem faced till now in my remote. Also I have not even replaced its battery even once from the date of purchase.
