The step taken by Zee is useless in kind of Zee Vajwa. The channel topping trp charts among marathi music genre after its launched they mentioned itself on their social media handles. Also Zee is having thousands of music label rights through Zee Music Company. But they suddenly shut down channel without any proper and valid notification.

Useless discussion, india is the only country has more no of newspapers in the world, why u didn't ask for only 5 newspaper for india?, India has more than 50+ languages,hence u can't impose your favourite language on others like wise news channel u can't restrict them to 5, foreign countries has only 3 to 4 languages Hence 5 max news channels, before upa 2, getting channel license is nearly impossible only politicians can get, congress govt simplified licence for channels but it backfired for them as channel make use of congress scams especially 2g and common wealth games scam, bjp government is shrewd they put the tab on news channels by putting their man as anchor or editor in chief otherwise channel will get blackouts, only facists/communist like to restrict news channels, till 1990s india is a unofficial communist country that's why only u seen news for 15 mins, you should blame Indian people for watching politician backed news channels

We can't blame Indian people for watching politician backed news channels. We Indians are influenced by the trends followed by majority. For example:- Cricket as a sport is widely accepted and watched by the crores of people but it is only the Men's Cricket not the Women's. Why is women's cricket not given the importance it is because of the bias and hero worship imbibed in the public by the Media Groups, Influencers etc.

Similarly, News Channels in India have lost the freedom to do journalism freely because of:-
1. Competition. It is becoming difficult to survive and report with confidence as the vast number of competitors. Hence It is either to follow the herd or get stampede by it.

2. Political influence:- Nowadays, Majority of the channels are backed or in some cases run by political parties to spread their agendas, manipulate the facts to the public. The situation is so bad that the whole motive of channels during elections has become blind reporting completely ignoring the facts, valuable insights.

3. Revenue:- The Profit earned through the legal sources for channels in India is Ads and Promotions. That is only possible if your channels is the first choice for news. This is only possible if the content is liked by the public, Hence a lot of manipulation, twisting of facts for extra spice and lastly giving importance to publicly accepted topics, even if it is irrelevant has become the norm.

These are some of the points which has led to the current situation. I feel news channels should have the freedom for proper reporting as Media is known as the fourth pillar to democracy. If the Journalism is biased/ influenced it is really dangerous to our current/ future generations.

@Mylanji I strongly feel the number of channels should be largely reduced as it is highly impossible for people to watch hundreds of news channels.

facist /commie dictator governments only reduce no of news channels so that they can control what people see eg: china, cuba etc, 100% all the indian news channnels are biased, only few newspapers are neutral, India has most number of newspapers in the world thats guinness record, was zero corruption in india before invent of news channels in india?, All Indians are hand-in-glove with corruption

We are having maximum News channels only. Not the entertainment and music channels. Especially for Marathi Viewers. Same goes for Radio Channels. Especially for Marathi Listeners.
