Intelsat confirms four imminent launches

Intelsat’s CEO Dave McGlade confirmed that the satellite operator is on track to launch a total of four satellites over the current six months period. Intelsat-22 launched on March 25, while Intelsat-19 is due to launch during this next few weeks. Intelsat 21 and 23 are both slated for launch in July.
McGlade also reported revenues for the three months to March 31st at $644.2 million (representing a net loss of $24.4 million) although a revenue increase of some 1 per cent ($4 million) on the same period last year. Intelsat’s EBITDA stood at $481.2 million, or 77 per cent of revenue (a fall of $8 million, from $489.3 million y-o-y).
He said that the operator’s all-important fill-rate stood at 79 per cent, and represented 2075 transponders. Contract backlog fell back very slightly from $10.7 billion (as at December 31 2011) to $10.5 billion on March 31st 2012.
