Star-couple Ajay Devgn and Kajol have informally agreed to become the face of the Maharashtra state government’s initiative to save the girl child. The Singham actor had earlier appeared in Mumbai Police’s Jagrut Mumbaikar campaign. It is not that uncommon for Bollywood denizens to promote a social cause. In the last few years, couples – dating and married – superseded other sports stars and models in the world of advertising and endorsements. From Aishwarya-Abhishek, Bipasha-John and Shahid-Priyanka to Shahrukh-Gauri and Amitabh-Jaya — everyone has made their share of combined appearances in advertisements but Kajol-Ajay is the first couple to come together for a social cause. It is Ajay and Kajol’s image of the happily married couple that makes them perfectly suited for a cause. The government approached the couple because they have a girl child and a clean image to boast. Unlike many other star couples, these two have never had any kind of controversy surrounding their personal lives. Insiders say that Ajay gave up his flirtatious ways when he entered a committed relationship with Kajol. And it is no hidden fact that Kajol has always given priority to her family over films – making her the ideal wife in the eyes of the public. In fact, Ajay has often said that Kajol is the perfect daughter-in-law and mother. Even though the two didn’t really hit it off as an onscreen couple, Ajay-Kajol still remain one of the best jodis offscreen.
