The kids’ genre is the second best genre in the country after the Hindi general entertainment channels (GECs). While a chunk of traditional brands prefer advertising on Hindi GECs, the kids’ genre has recently witnessed a spurt in non-traditional brands that have come on board to tap that market. The reason being, brands have realised that there is potential in that genre as well.

Cartoon Network, which is one of the leading kids channel in India, has been driving innovation in all its endeavours lately. With technological advancements there hasn’t only been a change in the way the audience is consuming content but also the way information is accessed with ease. And that is a major role in shaping the mindset of kids in today’s time. This is what makes them more aware about the latest happenings. Moreover, kids today are more opinionated than previous generations and hence play an important role in the family’s decision making.

Turner International India vice president ad sales South Asia Juhi Ravindranath spoke to Indiantelevision.com at length about the changes in scope of advertising on kids’ channels and changes that the industry has seen over the last decade.
