It's common sense, if successful they would not think of selling stake, instead they would make that business even bigger tan earlier. So no cricket right is hurting Zee

But what 'successful' actually means is the achievement of having stayed for a long time in the industry and influening millions of people, and the ability to sustain yourself in the industry for a long time in the foreseeable future. Zee, Sony and the others have all done that, though perhaps not to the degree of Star. They are all sizeable networks with a number of channels watched by crores of people.

It won't happen, just like Star Maa won't become Disney Maa after the merger. And anyway this merger will be blocked by the CCI. Vodafone and Idea could merge because there were mutual benefits in coming together, but what applies to telecom doesn't apply to TV networks. Today Disney in India is very small while Star is a mammoth, so Disney benefits tremendously after the merger. But Sony and Zee are both huge.

It's not about being successful. Even without sport, zee is successful. Actually, sport isn't a profit making buisness because acquisition costs have gone high. Secondly, zee is interested in making it a tech- entertainment company like how Sony is, which is making zee to sell it's stakes. But the authority to take decision will be with zee and it's CEO will remain the chairman of board of directors. So anything like name change is really a puerile thought and an outcome of not understanding corporate buisness structure. It's actually a gain for zee, if more stakes aren't sold. And zee media, dish tv will not be a part of this deal.
