1. What is the speed of your Set-Top-Box?
2. How much memory is in your Set-Top-Box?
3. Can you record programs?
4. If you can record, how many hours?
5. Does it supports all current & future codecs?

If you are worried about above, then DVB-S2 tuners for PC/Laptop is the solution.
You have same memory speed of your computer. You can record pause play your fav programs until your hard disk is full. Don't worry about current and future codecs.

It can act as a super/killer Set-Top-Box.
My setup is DVB-S2 USB tuner + Raspberry Pi + HDMI + HDD

Again, it's not only about TV/Radio. Have you heard of data grabbing (Skygrabber) ?

Unfortunately, Indians DTH providers that you have named are violating TRAI order for hardware interoperability. Means, one DTH operators STB can not be used with another DTH operator. Because their STB and smart cards are married to each other. This is a clear violation of TRAI order.

If there is hardware interoperability, you can watch your fav DTH channels with this card too which have a CI slot. Hope this helps.

I don't think you can buy Inverto LNBs in India. I had imported it from Thailand.
