In a first, the usually reclusive Sun management spoke out candidly to ET Magazine, with Sun TV Group CFO SL Narayanan pouring out frustration at the Union government's "arbitrary" decision. Sun also clarified its stand in the Aircel-Maxis deal for the first time and explained why they feel the CBI has no case. Excerpts from an interview with Sandhya Ravishankar:

The Sun Group is on a seriously sticky wicket. On one hand, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached Rs 742 crore worth of their assets as part of a money laundering case connected with the Aircel-Maxis deal, an alleged case of quid pro quo and arm-twisting of Aircel to sell out to Malaysian giant Maxis. On the other hand, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) threatens to deny security clearance to their 33 regional language channels —this would mean the entire network would go off air, a blow which the 22-year-old Sun Group may never recover from.
