Trai to form committee for smooth rollout of NTO 2.0

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has decided to form a committee with representation from leading pay TV industry associations to ensure the smooth implementation of the New Regulatory Framework 2020 and identify impediments with counter-measures for the overall growth of the broadcast sector.

In a letter dated 22 December, accessed by Indiantelevision.com, Trai had asked the Indian Broadcasting and Digital Foundation (IBDF), the All India Digital Cable Federation (AIDCF), and the DTH association to nominate a maximum of two representatives to be part of the implementation committee.

So this means that:
  • By 28 February, broadcasters will have to notify any changes in the channel pricing, bouquets and new launches/shutdowns.
  • By 31 March, DPOs will have to notify bouquet pricings and included channels to the TRAI.
  • By 1 June (latest), broadcasters/distributors will need to provide the specified services.
By the end of this month, we might get a clearer picture on when Disney-Star and others might launch new channels.

Marvel HQ was supposed to rebrand as Super Hungama on 11th December 2021 and even promos for the same were released. But then the rebrand din't happen on that particular date and no information regarding the rebranding of the channel was told.
