Despite the fact that there
being variety of programs aired
by different channels, we find
one common thing among all
the programs i.e., anchor and
anchoring.
Visakhapatnam: The Telugu TV
industry is having severe shortage of
anchors. Presently we have only 3
female anchors to name i.e., Jhansi,
Suma & Udaya Bhanu.
Irrespective of the nature of the
program – whether it is a music
program, dance program, women
program or audio launch – the
anchoring is done by one of these 3
only.
Suma is rendering her services as
anchoring ETV shows like Star Mahila,
Cash & the recent Swarabhishekam.
She is also helping MAA TV for their
show ‘Bhala Chansule’.
Udaya Bhanu is rendering her
anchoring services for many shows
like Dhee, Rangam, Rela Re Rela,
Changure Bangaru Rani etc.
Jhansi extended her anchoring
services for shows like ‘Talk of the
Town’ for Gemini TV, ‘Sunday
Sundadi’, ‘ATM’ on ETV and also
‘Brain of Andhra’, ‘Pelli Pustakam’ on
MAA TV.
All the audio launching programs also
have one of these three anchors
which might be causing monotony for
the audience.
May be the channels are getting to
know about the feelings of the
audience. The channels are trying to
increase the opportunities for more
and more anchors. ETV’s Get Ready is
anchored by Kushboo. MAA TV’s
Modern Mahalaxmi had Roja as
anchor. So is the case with ETV’s
Jabardasth. This comedy show is
having Naga Babu, Roja (till her
election as MLA) as judges and
Reshma is the anchor for this show.
ETV’s Show WoW has increasing
popularity with dialogue king Sai
Kumar as the moderator cum anchor.
Similarly, Ali’s performance in ‘Ali
369’is also getting increasing positive
response.
Gemini TV engaged singer duo
Shravana Bhargavi & Hemachandra
for their Bol Baby Bol show. The
anchoring for this show is finding
wider acceptability among the
audience.
Similarly Gemini TV’s ‘Pillalu
Pidugulu’ is having playback singer
Mano (Nagur Babu) as the anchor.
This program with children is also
getting good response as also for the
anchoring.
MAA TV went a step forward. One of
the owners of the channel Nagarjuna
is the anchor and host for the latest
blockbuster show of this channel
under the name ‘Meelo Evaru
Koteeswarudu’. Designed on the lines
of Big B’s KBC, this show has been
running successfully for the past 12
episodes. This show is also having
some celebrity episodes involving
Vidya Balan, Shreya Saran etc.
