Simple, as affects other Electric devices.
Heavy volt current could be affect any device.

How it will affect if we unplug it from the socket...?:huh
It will affect in the case of cable tv, because cable is always connected with another source. If we do not remove the cable from stb there is chance of stb damage during lightning...but in the case of dth there is a chance if we plugged our stb plug in socket because we are using AC current...
