“So the first question as already indicated that we are not doing the TV syndication increasing the Eros Now penetration and the revenue guidance of $200 million for the whole year and the EBITDA of $80 million to $95 million, we are reiterating that we will achieve that and there were no medium budget and no theatrical releases this year. There were low budget films of that and that’s where you could see that the revenue of the dip, but this is as per our guidelines and as per our expectation,” Eros International Plc Executive Chairman and Group CEO Kishore Lulla told analysts during Q2 earnings conference call.

Another plus which Star has is the collection of most of the comedies be it Housefull, series the Venus movies (Hungama and Hulchul), khatta meetha ,Ready (shared with Viacom), Golmaal (3&4) or even the timeless classic Angoor they have the best comedy movies
Zee has Phir hera pheri, Welcome series, SRK comedies (Baadshah &Chennai Express)
Sony has Evergreen classic comedies like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron and Half Ticket etc

Looks like Housefull again moving to Star from Eros - Zee

It won't move until 2021
Eros will stop syndication deal with Zee
Sajid Nadiadwala will get Satellite and Digital rights to back
Sajid Nadiadwala getting more profit from Fox Star
So he will giving satellite rights to Star

Syndication basically is a system of handing over rights of movie to multiple broadcasters. Right now one can see many films produced by Eros being aired on Zee, B4U, UTV and this is what will be scrapped. I do not think awarding satellite rights would be stopped, without this producer will suffer huge losses unless ofcourse they have established network to air their own films.

Even big companies like Shemaroo hand over rights despite having funds to start own channel, reason is inability to capitalize or monetize content. Star, Zee, Sony have capability to bring value out of content.

But we want Housefull series only on Star Gold
Also I am not happy about Dabangg 3 and Mardaani 2 Satellite Rights
Sequel on one channel and Prequel on another channel it doesn't make sense

Shemaroo's major partner has been Sony and Viacom. It's relationship with Zee is bad due to fight while Star-Shemaroo films rights are about to expire

I think this is not because of South first policy this is because of cutting funds and doing miserly investments. YRF movies are way expensive. A South movie max is sold for 15 crore (Goldmines), even lower for other studios. YRF's big budget films have satellite rights more than 50 Crores-90 crores. Sony is the only network which is in profit. Cost cutting has really helped Sony to a large extent. After Viacom deal may be YRF could come back to Sony.

Well firstly Sony - YRF partnership was more of a cordial bonding than just focusing on money part. YRF did not sign exclusive deal with them since beginning but always gave Sony rights of its movies bcoz of goodwill, had YRF been solely money minded then they had many options to do so. Since last 8 or 10 years Sony started reducing airtime for YRF films, in an age of maintaining visual presence this surely bound to reduce brand recall among people. Let alone this even good YRF films wear hardy shown except in watershed hrs.

Sony has sufficient funds to buy rights and by the way bollywood movies still get huge ad revenue but as it seems Sony took it way too easy thinking that some banners will stay with them. Not only YRF i m sensing T Series also moving out alongwith some others. Sony will surely wake up now, yesterday Akshay Kumar made a joke in Kapil Show about Sony not having anything except Sooryavansham so if i read between lines soon Sony will come up with new line up of Akshay films thanks to new agreement with Firoz Nadiadwala and post that Kapil will give interesting response to Akshay during show.

All in all right now Disney is in full swing, they r going all out to acquire bollywood rights. Star has anyways been fair to bollywood audience but somehow Zee had numero uno position in this segment for longest time, now it will be head to head fight. Sony should understand that bollywood channel is not a failed bet infact look how well Max2 is doing or how Star is managing to perform great even with higher priority to bollywood content

Viacom18 is letting loose rights of many movies, Zee or others r picking up on it. Shemaroo content was mainstay on Colors Cineplex but now again it is moving to Star/Disney. Even Tips Films will move out and most likely reside with Zee.

Also if Sony takes over Network18 barring its news division then some more home production films will come over to Sony Network. Maybe they will make Colors Cineplex a bollywood centric channel. This takeover will usher changes in other genres too, Gossip Girl premiere halted on AXN most probably means that it might find way on Colors Infinity while AXN would continue with action oriented content or rebrand into a new avatar.
