Here is the reason Sajid join hands with Sony for Bachchan Pandey
For Bachchan Pandey, Sajid has taken a break from his usual partner, Fox Star Studio, and sources confirm that the two couldn’t reach a consensus on financial terms. “After Disney has taken-over Fox Star Studios, they wanted to acquire not just the distribution rights of the film but also retain the Intellectual Property Rights. Despite making lucrative financial offers, Sajid on the other hand, wasn’t keen to part ways from Digital, Music and Satellite rights, which is the reason why he has gone ahead to sign a mere distribution deal with Sony,” the source explained.

This means future NG Films probably will not be on Star India, unlikely that either of them will reach out to each other after what has transpired. These days producers / actors keep all rights except theatrical with them and only few enter exclusive deals. Let's see whether Zee or Sony enter fray for buying their satellite rights or Star India is able to mend broken partnership again

The Legend of Bhagat Singh also seemed to move from Star. It is airing on Cineplex.

There is not a fixed agreement between Sony Pictures and Zee, SPNI films like Soorma, Piku, Mubarkan, Poster Boys r with Sony. 102 Not Out was a Sony Pictures Entertainment India production hence went to Zee, Columbia Pictures distributed it which has pact with Zee .. All its English films premiere on Zee English Chs

There r many small movies whose rights r with multiple chs, also Viacom rents out certain films from Star India library... UTV has 2nd output deal for Viacom18 films. Film rights r complex to understand for common person, lot of different kind of deals r in place
