Target altitude of 40,600 km achieved. Thanks @SES_Satellites for riding on Falcon 9! Looking forward to future missions.

Success! SpaceX completed its second mission of the year, which was also one of its most difficult to date.

And we have to say that it’s about time. After 4 scrubs, two of which were down to the last minutes, SpaceX has kept us in launch limbo for the last nine days.

But on Friday evening, our patience was rewarded. At exactly 6:35 p.m. ET, a Falcon 9 rocket lifted off toward space carrying with it the 17,500-pound SES-9 communications satellite:

Rocket landed hard on the droneship. Didn't expect this one to work (v hot reentry), but next flight has a good chance.

Reusable first stage was anyway doubtful and holds no consequence to success of SES-9 itself. They were using extra thrust to achieve a higher orbit and also because the high weight of SES-9 which is a bit beyond spacex capacity. The main thing for Airtel is that the target altitude of 40,600 km was achieved. Now lets hope the satellite reaches its intended position soon and is in functional condition.
