MUMBAI: The rechristened Shop CJ Network, an equal joint venture between Providence Equity and Korea’s CJ O Shopping, is evaluating plans to launch regional-language home shopping channels in South India.
While nothing has been finalised yet, the company is looking with great interest at the Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada markets.
Kenny_Shin“Yes, we do have plans to launch three channels in South India but it is not yet finalised. We are considering it because these are big markets,” Shop CJ Network CEO Kenny Shin told TelevisionPost.com.
Shin said that launching channels in new geographies is a complicated matter and takes a lot of time.
“There are a couple of ways to expand our business in South India. We could have easily run a slot on a channel like Sun TV or any other regional channel but I think dubbing is not the right answer,” he added.
