Is WPL available on DD Sports as well? Only Free Dish or all DTH Operators too?

star sports is losing its ground in sports broadcasting they are investing lost properties and letting go of niche and exclusive sporting rights be it in squash, football, cricket rights, baseball, tennis, f1 or golf.... india cricket which they show is shared with dd so people are getting it for free, ICC, ACC rights all india matches are shared with DD so whats the point too be more cricket centric and leaving out on niche sports.. only thing Star had was IPL now that too telecasting it on star utsav movies they have nailed last nail on their coffin when m getting to watch IPL for less then a rupee why what i subscribe rs22 channel. even for advertisers will advertise on SUM rather star sports Hindi...

No such issue. Already discussed upon the same in great detail earlier so won't repeat. India Cricket is most essential for a sports broadcaster in India to be the leader in the segment although it is right to say that price of its rights need downward revision so that broadcasters r not under immense pressure on the financial front.

DD does air all such matches on DD Free Dish + Terrestrial Mode as same has been mandated in Sports Broadcasting Signals Act. Also DD has to share 75% of ad revenue with the concerned private sports broadcaster which holds the rights of the said sporting property. There is no such risk of people ditching their Cable pr DTH connection and opting for DD Free Dish just to watch cricket or other sports for Free. Sports channels of private broadcasters offer much enhanced overall viewing experience for a viewer to opt for them. What i can say is that private broadcasters should themselves launch exclusive sports channels on DD Free Dish and air all such mandatory sports events on it, they can ofcourse continue to provide better viewing experience on their Paid Sports channels so that both FTA and Pay TV users are catered to properly and even FTA users find it attractive to upgrade to Pay TV for getting access to more content/ channels with better overall viewing experience.

So all in all currently Star Sports or other sports broadcasters r not as such losing any revenue with DD Sports 1.0 airing important sports events
