According to BARC India, the series is the most viewed test match since 2018, The clash garnered 7.4 million Average Minute Audience (AMA) over five days. The match was aired on Star Network’s sports channels Star Sports, Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Hindi HD, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, and Star Sports 1 Kannada. Besides, DD Sports had also aired the match.

As earlier reported by exchange4media, according to industry estimates, the sponsors paid Rs 2.5 lakh per 10 seconds whereas spot buyers paid Rs 2.8 lakh per 10 seconds. Also, the broadcaster is estimated to have earned a revenue of Rs 90-92 crore from WTC Final.
Ind-NZ WTC Final viewed by 99 million
Good to know 99 million people watched Test Cricket. ICC seems to done their job of making Test cricket popular again.

Also Star earned Revenue of 90-92cr from 5 days test cricket with Rain effect, that's why Star/Disney behind cricket, you can't expect same huge Revenue for football events in India

No one's asking Star to ditch cricket for football. They are expecting to air live matches instead of highlights on all their channels. Even cricket fans are demanding fresh magazine shows featuring International cricket over just India Team and IPL.

Yes Agreed that Cricket generates huge revenues, it also have the huge costs involved with it. Just take the WTC Final as an example, Star India haven't even dared to monotise the event outside the sub continent. They invoked a law on their agreements to retain only Sub Continental rights and had asked ICC to do whatever they want to do with Rest of the world.

Also, let's just say India hadn't qualified for the final, what would have happened? Probably, there would have been May be 1/10th revenue and Star still had to pay full amount for the rights.

They don't have any live events apart from Wimbledon, F1 as of now. Wait for a month or two, they will be back with most cricketing and football live action once the season begins. Coming to the magazine shows, they are mostly invested in Indian cricket which are only the ones set to have an impact with garnering the eyeballs. They are doing follow the blues, game plans etc for the Indian team matches even though they aren't technically broadcasting them. Coming to international cricketing events they have no reason as of now to get involved as they only hold Indian and South African home games.

Ps. I really hope they do absorb ESPNcricinfo content team asap, and can produce magazine shows that they can broadcast on all Disney owned platforms.

Yeah nobody asked to Sony for Football airing and Make loss every year

I remember back in late 2000s. Ten Sports use to have Top 10 ICC countdown like Top 10 batsman, bowlers, teams, etc. during ad breaks. Would be nice if any broadcaster will be willing to bring it back.

Remember No.1 Sports Channel Neo Cricket after loosing BCCI Rights, Neo Cricket becomes Neo Prime and football based Neo Sports, later Both Channels Started airing More Football events, both Channels struggling days started from football events, moreover situation of Zee Sports too same
