Just to clarify, black bars have nothing to do with wide screen or 4:3 SD format..... Remember movies or content r made in different aspect be it 1.85:1 (16:9) 2.33:1 (21:9) or 2.55:1 (23:9) or 2.85:1 (25:9) video aspect ratio.... To fit this in wide screen tv aspect ratio size of original content aspect ratio is reduced proportionally hence u see black bar size more or less in different content aired as higher the video aspect ratio more will be the black bars visible when content gets aired on TV in HD format, at times chs zoom in picture to reduce these black bars like MTV Beats aired songs thus omitting black bars or most english movie chs r aired like that.... Check the movie ugram presently airing on Colors Cineplex, as movie is shot in 21:9 aspect ratio hence on TV u will see more black bars when aired in HD format....for conversion to SD chs either simply stretch the picture or use letter box format (which increases black bars and hence used for some movies wherein essential as important elements of scene r available in side parts of frame and cannot be cropped)

See bro, we are in 2025. Mostly everyone has HD TVs and 16:9 is the standard. All these years the Broadcasters waited for most of the customers.
This should have been done a long time ago. What's the point in having a 16:9 TV and watching channels in 4:3 stretched to fit the screen. As usual we are far behind from global norms. High time we convert channels from SD to HD & HD to 4K.

Almost all DD channels are in 16:9 format. Looking good. Though most DD channels are SD.
