Tata IPL 2023 | Star Sports Network | March 31st

Yes. If any other had picked up the rights along with Star, this IPL also pass with nothing fresh.
What happened in the telecom sector is repeating. Operators knowingly stuck with 3G & 2G and enjoyed looting, then Jio came and started 4G revolution.
Unlimited data with 5G and now broadband from Rs.198/- per month, disruption goes on.

Hahaha! Buddy in telecom there may have been a case of excessive charging for data or calls but foor broadcast sector same cannot be said. It is extremely difficult to recover huge investments made in acquiring sporting properties, making in house programs on it, hiring people to present the same and above all operating a sports channel. Sports Broadcasters remain cautious of any overspending and same is understandable

According to reports the likes of Rashmika Mandanna and Tamannaah Bhatia are likely to perform at the opening ceremony of IPL 2023. Some other names being reported are those of Katrina Kaif, Tiger Shroff and Arijit Singh

Now digital acquisition cost is more than TV, not only for sports, movies also. TV broadcast is very old as it has to be cheap, Telecom is growing as new, year by year due to high investment in fiber, 4G, 5G & 6G etc.

Wrong buddy. This year Jio/Reliance did indeed pay a very high amount for acquiring digital rights of IPL as they even acquired for non exclusive matches bouquet apart from regular rights but TV rights costs remains to be equally high. You can compare the same. TV still remains the mass and most popular medium to watch content in India

Streaming is a growing business. It will take high investment. Streamers will have to be innovative to grow. Let's see until last year IPL's previous streamer couldn't even invest in proper streaming. Hence, they lost the plot and the rights.

STAR bids too high for TV, but if they lost TV rights, then their regional sports channels in trouble with limited cricket content.

As streaming have high popularity, so OTTs are to invest more in IT infrastructure than Satellite tv.
