Well i believe the huge viewership they got for live cricket be it IPL or BCCI matches is bcoz people liked the overall streaming experience....i am not denying that there would be some issues and this happens across platforms.

Did u watch FIFA World Cup 2022 on Jio Cinema.....all i can say is that i did read some very negative reviews about the streaming experience be it on this forum or even on Twitter. More so i have even seen people not liking live sports streaming quality on Sony Liv. Disney+Hotstar still by far has provided a good streaming experience as compared to others barring few issues.

They could have provided certain events in 4K on Disney+Hotstar and i think they had....it also depends whether such events r available in 4K from source end or r sizeable number of people willing to pay for premium subscription to access else unnecessarily creating load on server and investing more is of no use. 4K broadcast and streaming has huge challenges involved, worldover despite there being lot many people there as compared to India who can pay more to access 4K content still broadcasters / platforms restrict 4K transmission for very key events bcoz of huge cost + infrastructure challenges involved in the same
Hotstar player interface is good but not the streaming quality. People watched it because they don't have the another OTT option for the same sports events.

Yes, i watched FIFA event and first few days it is really pathetic but improved later on.And womens IPL streaming was good except few quality issues here and there. It is like asking new born to walk when the 5yrs older is not even crawling 😂

At least JioCinema is putting effort to improve the quality but it is quite opposite with hotstar. If Jio was into sports streaming, we could be watching same patheting streaming for another 5 years.

Ppl used Hotstar because they had all the rights. When the bidding closed, entire Cricket community on Twitter and Reddit wanted Sony or Jio to win the rights. Only Disney/Hotstar loyalists were like Disney will win it, they're a huge American Media Conglomerate.

Watched Fifa WC in JioCinema, first couple of days were rough but after that streaming was flawless.

I had no issues during WPL. I've seen some reporting audio sync issue but I didn't face any. SonyLIV, Prime Video streaming quality has always been a notch above Hotstar. Heck even Fancode streams are better than pixelated Hotstar.

This is totally flawed logic. If things were so bad then people would not have opted for their subscription and above all subscription + viewership on Disney+Hotstar for key sporting events would have witnessed steady decline over last 7 or 8 years but reality we know is quite the opposite so sorry but ur statement does not have hold strong ground. People had option to watch IPL,,BCCI matches via Star Sports channel incase they felt app experience was not good but same did not happen...Disney+Hostar infact saw huge rise in viewership + subscription and infact has highest paid subscriber base too thus it proves that people like the content, streaming experience and pricing of plans of their OTT platform

I have streamed content / live sports on Amazon Prime Video and i agree their streaming quality is very good...as far as Sony Liv is concerned my experience has been from bad to just above average at various instances, even their app user interface / navigation seems somewhat laggy and sluggish at times. Have not used fancode app so cannot comment on its streaming quality
