Why r u blaming TRAI when Tata Play is increasing NCF at their sole discretion, TRAI rules have set no lower limit for NCF but just increased upper ceiling for the same
Because TRAI made the amendment in the NTO to allow and give liberty to MSO and DTH operators to decide on NCF fee they can charge for customers. Earlier it was capped at Rs. 62 for multi television.

Bcoz operators were asking for the same to expand their revenue..... TRAI is not made anything mandatory that operator has to increase NCF, they have just expanded the upper ceiling limit applicable for NCF..... Here Tata Play is at fault for hiking NCF

Don't worry slowly other DTH also will follow the same ☺️

This implementation was from 1st week of Oct.,3 months from announcement,Tataplay is so desperate for more revenue it could not wait even one more month and implimented it.Others may follow same or 10 percent less but except Sun everybody will increase now, more surprises are coming like channel rate going beyond Rs22 for popular channels and much more

DTH and MSO have so many revenue channels
Rs. 1-2 per channel which they get from broadcaster.
NCF of Rs. 153 for first Television and Rs. 62 for each multi connection
Carriage Fee for channels
LCN placement fee from channels
Service Channel revenue
Margins on replacements of Remote, LNB and other accessories
Margins on OTT aps on Binge TV
Movie on Demand

Trai had earlier capped multi tv fee at Rs. 62. Now they have given liberty. You never know operators may hike First TV NCF also. I am not blaming any DTH operators. They are here to maximize their profits. TRAI has some responsibilities. They are neither able to control mobile service operators and not DTH/MSO.

Apart from cord cutting. Cable operators are earning way more than they did pre NTO.

The last part agree upon buddy and have always stated that since Mr. RS Sharma retired as TRAI Chairman there has been a more lenient/flexible approach adopted and there r several demands of operators, broadcasters which r being agreed upon thereby these changes r being implemented in further NTO rules which surely have diluted the original form of NTO regulations which were lot better but broadcasters did not adopt it in right manner

Actually cord cuttjng has really impacted them very badly as due to which not only overall revenues r down though yes ARPU might be somewhat better due to prices going up but that is not contributing to positive growth bcuz subscriber base is shrinking and due to which even carriage fees would have gone down as operators which command bigger user base cmand higher carriage fee

More the charges lesser the revenue. Broadcasters are ignoring the customers totally, which will cost them in future
