Direct to home service provider, Tata Sky 'Mobile Access App' will now be available to Android users.

Tata Sky Mobile Access was launched in July and was made available across various Apple devices. It will now broaden its user base by becoming available on the Android platform.

The app transforms an Android phone into a universal remote control. It can also be used to access four-day programme listings, read extended information for movies, search for programmes based on title and set favourite shows for recording.

This app also allows subscribers to share what they are watching on TV through social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. It also permits subscribers to view which shows are currently being watched by their friends on TV via Facebook, thus helping them decide what to watch.

The app functions on Android 2.2 or higher variations and is available for free for HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony, Nexus S and Galaxy Tab. The Universal Remote functionality works on all Android 2.2 devices, which is in conjunction with the MP3 Mobile Accessory.

The rising number of smartphone users inspired Tata Sky to innovate something which could converge all user requirements of social networking and promo viewing into one app. Android being an open source platform, this new app will be compatible across all hardware.
