Good Move
They Should Stop 4K Box Also
The future is 4K
That is not what he meant. He never asked to stop selling 4K enabled box but the older generation 4K box. The new Binge+ hybrid set top box has 4K resolution support and available with lot more features for lesser cost so keeping a standalone 2015 based outdated 4K set top box for 6.4k cost doesn't make much sense.

When did we stop using DVDs? Around 2011. But all these years Tata Sky advertised its SD boxes as having DVD-like picture quality and CD-like sound. Nobody was getting fooled.

Right. They should reduce the price. They should still sell it though, as not everybody wants a hybrid box!

Hell yeah. This is exactly what was needed. It's 2020 and broadcasters were launching new SD channels all around. The base should be HD hereon. With TataSky's move and lack of new SD connections, hopefully, broadcasters will rethink of launching new SD channels. Let them launch new HD and maybe in few years down the line, we all can hope for 4K channels in India. One can hope right?
Just now Star (Star Vijay Music) and Zee (Zee Thirai) launched their SD channels...

Even at a discounted price. It's a useless purchase as there is no 4K content available. And people don't want to invest in an outdated product unless it carries any nostalgic value.
Yes, you can use either RCA or HDMI
Do you know if they are giving RCA cable with the boxes? If not I think they have only decided to stopped selling SD boxes via online platforms. Cuz, we still don't have +1 channels of Sony on HD Boxes till date.

Tata Sky people have changed their words now. CC chat has also been updated and now says they have not discontinued selling SD boxes.

Tata Sky website has been updated again with addition of SD box listing. Tata Sky SD Digital Set Top Box

Dealers have also received message yesterday which says Tata Sky has all 5 set top boxes (SD, HD, HD PVR, 4K, Binge+) available for purchase.
