why these people always comment on HD channel addition? they had already told that their first preference is regional channels
Because they have very limited HD channels of which very few are popular.
How do you feel having HD TV and HD connection witout HD cahnnels

TS has set the ball rolling. Their priority as stated is the South market. Once they have addressed this, they will surely look at adding HD channels as well once they have generated the TP space required. After all they are in competition with other DTH operators. Just need to be patient for a little while longer. We know that they have a good solution to the TP space problem now.

Dont discuss about HD channels addition here, tatasky itself says they not have big hope on indian HD market.

Really? You have a source for that info? Then why are they pushing HD boxes?

Did you know many studios are upgrading to HD and shows are being shot mainly in HD and being downgraded to SD for broadcast? Even DD has started converting its studios to HD capability and in process of setting up HD terrestrial transmitters in major metros. TS likes to invest in technologically advanced solutions. Surely HD market is on their radar. Just wait for it.

Because HD boxes are MPEG 4. They don't have to replace old MPEG 2 box free of cost which they are doing with SD box. They can collect money if you upgrade to HD.

Hmm. Can you provide some source ? or it's a guess.

There is large no of CRT TV still available there (unlike US). So it is little odd to hear that shows are being shot mainly in HD and being downgraded to SD for broadcast

If you watch TV from 10 to 12 (most of us normally do) feet away does it really matter whether it is HD or not? You cannot distinguish between SD and HD. I think HD TV is good when you watch TV from closer.

There are almost 850 channels in India. Can you tell me how many of them are HD ? I think the number is under 40.

Bro you are still thinking about 1080p full hd resolution. Where has already Sony is Launching a new Smart Phone named Sony Xperia Honami in this week or next week in IFA 2013 Berlin Germany with 20 MP Camera which can shoot in 4k ultra hd resolution which has 5 times more Picture clarity than full hd 1080p resolution and there are also rumors that the new Samsung Note 3 launching this week can also shoot in ultra hd 4k resolution, now think if smart phones which will cost around 40 to 50k Indian Rupees can shoot in 4k Ultra Hd resolution then the Cameras which are worth Millions of rupees with latest Technology used in Movies , Tv shows and sport events will shoot in outdated 1080p full hd resolution. Do you Know English Premier League matches are shot with 8k resolution cameras which have ten times more picture clarity then full 1080p.
