Very overpriced services. When most music channels are FTA. They want ₹60 for music service.

It is a service Channel not a satellite Channel, they cannot keep it at low prices. Satellite Channels have huge audience and they earn lots from advertisement which is not possible for these service channels.

GTPL Hathway has similar service channels
(not local channels) has FTA channels throughout India. How do they maintain?

Its TS own service and also its in partnership with Hungama who provides content. So they need revenue, hence its priced liked that.

GTPL is a cable operator, they don't require to pay licence fee, entry fee, registration/ annual charge, etc. While DTH operators have to pay all that to the government for each service Channel plus rules and regulations are also strict for DTH PS Channel. They also have to maintain 90 days recording of PS channels which is again not enforced for cable operators.

Same is applicable to national MSO's as well. Who told you cable companies doesn't have to pay fee for licences? They have to acquire content before airing. Just because some illegally transmit channels doesn't give you license go defame all operators.

These things are told by leading DTH operators to TRAI in a recent CP, I am quoting Dish TV here:

The objective of PS is brand differentiation and to compete against the local content being showcased by MSOs/LCOs at their discretion. The content they air is not regulated by any existing act or law. Hence it is requested that TRAI should make fair recommendation applicable to all DPOs instead of just regulating PS on DTH operators.

Among all the DOP’s, only the DTH operators are required to pay entry fee, license
fee and also furnish bank guarantee.

In cable same isn't required as they provide services by themselves instead of collaborating with third party companies.
