Seems BIS did publish standardization of inbuilt tuners in TV sets to include DVB S2 to capture Satellite broadcast (DD Free dish) so that only Dish with LNB will work with TV directly (STB not required)
BIS publishes standards for digital television receivers with built in satellite tuners

However the Govt Gazette to make it mandatory published on 26th April 2023 with a timeline for OEMs to adhere by 2 years.
Gazette Notification of TV for compliance with IS 18112:2022 (Digital Television Receiver for Satellite Broadcast Transmission —Specification) under the schedule of CRO

AFAIK not a single brand offer inbuilt satellite tuner in their TV sets

Recently BIS also proposed Revision to above standard and invited suggestions by 29th Nov, 2024

Draft Indian Standard DIGITAL TELEVISION RECEIVER FOR SATELLITE BROADCAST TRANSMISSION – SPECIFICATION (First Revision)

Question is
whether closure of DTT in India is good? Seems only Telcos got benefitted by getting valuable spectrums. Public lost cheapest mean to get TV Access. TV OEMs got wasted to include DVB T2 tuners inbuilt in their TVs (frankly no additional efforts as DVB T2 are available across western countries).

why standardization and mandatory implementation of inclusion of DVB S2 tuner in TV sets is not completed before stopping all Analog and Digital Terrestrial Transmitters across whole country

If eWaste reduction / Go Green is on agenda, why not make common Antenna/Dish with suitable amplifier in Housing Societies/ Apartments a mandatory norm.

Latest smart TV sets have both Antenna and cable option, but technically india behind in the technology compares with border countries or any other countries.
