Uday shankar is key to grow viacom they bid below 6000crore to get the rights. Everyone expect tough fight from sony but they will not get the rights atleast they survive with wwe content. But star only ipl rights they have ISL also gone.

The final number is approximately Rs 7.8 crore higher than the price of the last cycle's value and fulfills the BCCI's condition that the overall value exceeds Rs 60 crore. Altogether, Viacom 18, supported by Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries and led by Uday Shankar, who revolutionized the broadcast industry in India during his time as the head of Star India, will contribute Rs 5966.4 crore over five years.

After BCCI rights all other rights feel small.. the biggest rights in Indian sports they have bag

i think its a smart move from STAR/Disney not going for Indian home matches... as its a waste right according to me.... mandatory sharing of right with DD is huge loss for the right holders....and now since DD launching HD sports channel people would prefer to watch it on DD... and rest test matches will be free on jio
Fun . Sports 18.will become virat 18.That means king have a new home channel

If Act is amended in parliament, there is no scope for SC intervention.
I wanted to say that it was amended when Star went to court and won it . The argument was the same then whats in for me by paying so much for the exclusive rights.

we have to see, if Sports 18 didn't launch enough channels, then we may lose the domestic matches.
