Analysis-
All Jiostar channels irrespective of language has drastically went down. This decreasing process has started from many weeks still they're adamant and overconfident about themselves and in deep sleep. Already competitors are overtaking. They just simply boast themselves as biggest network and sleep back. Their strategies are failing and no counter back for competition. Simply doing same thing and continuing as what they're doing.

1. In Hindi Star Plus and Sab were competing each other for top hindi channel, with colors giving them tough competition slightly, out of nowhere zee TV has raced fast that it has overtaken colors and even star plus, which is a shame for jiostar that both the channels are behind.
2. In Tamil star vijay is overtaken. Also if you see south ratings, 3 languages domination of zee. Eventually they'll get to top of the list if this continues.
3. Zee Marathi closing the gaps with pravah despite IPL running. Ofc we can say IPL viewership is reduced and boring in the middle. But still the conscious efforts and racing can be witnessed.
4. In Telugu also the gap is decreasing consistently between maa and zee.
5. In Kannada, (before merger) colors did same mistake of being adamant and over confident when they were number 1 and neglected zee progress eventually getting dethroned and never able to comeback strongly till now. The same mistake is happening in all languages. After merger Kannada market has become even more worst with team doesn't doing anything new and big. Competing against themselves and let zee sit comfortable at no.1. Fools. By seeing Udaya making progress it'll simply overtake Suvarna in upcoming days.

I think JioHotstar merger has been one of the biggest reason of downfall of DTH.
They shutdown our entertainment, when Paramount exited with their channels... VH1 will be missed, gud, its happening to them.

They shut our entertainment, we shut their company :dodgy2::nj:

Even bro zee also shut down its English channels because economically they aren’t viable now but still JioStar running colors infinity mtv which also airs new songs star movies

Yes everyone hoped for Linear TV revival through this merger but actually it became even more worse. Also the lack of clear strategy especially when there's both colors and star presence especially market like Karnataka. Purposefully degrading one brand to inflate other, no new significant investment. Instead of competing with rival network they're competing with themselves and helping rival to stay comfortable. Before merger itself it was good for both brands.

I think their main aim is to monetize cricket rights but they need to revive dth and take steps because all tv broadcasters want dth to survive despite they all have their own ott platforms and india is a market where tv can still survive unlike America i discussed about it in thread do you think satellite tv is dead

in America, as well... TV is surviving.... infact cable tv is also seen a lot.

in some article, it was mentioned, hallmark channel was working on cable networks across the U.S

But i read that around 50% of household don't use dth and the people who use only for sports and here also someone said dth is dead long back in America

you are correct to some extent... thats why I say, we need to take revenge from these companies, not only Jiostar, but others as well... by reducing their worth
- wwe taken off TV
- paramount chnls exits, comedy central etc
- axn, star world, vh1 shutdown
- jiostar distributing HBOmax/WBD through their OTT app, not TV channel... I mean both jiostar n wbd wud be partners in crime in this deal, of not having their chnls on TV, but on OTT
- music chnls shutdown, MTV beats... sony music chnls etc..

every company.... all are to be blamed... but this merger has brought doomsday for TV :explode:

DTH:

As of early 2026, the U.S. Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite market has seen significant declines due to cord-cutting, with approximately 18.2 million DTH subscribers remaining by the end of 2024, down from over 30 million a decade prior. DirecTV and Dish Network remain the dominant providers, now focusing on premium sports, hybrid (DTH+OTT) services, and high-ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) customers

cable:

As of early 2026, roughly 22% to 36% of American adults still use traditional cable or satellite TV, marking a steep decline as streaming becomes the dominant medium. While over 66 million people still maintain some form of cable subscription, that number is rapidly falling. Cable viewing now represents less than 25% of total TV usage

Happy for Zee Marathi hope it becomes No.1 channel of Maharashtra one day with trp of 1600+ like Star Pravah used to get before IPL.
Zee ain't reaching 1600 anytime sooner
Max it will reach close to Star 900-1000 mark
