Why SD Channels in HD Package?

Just wondering why almost all the DTH operators are offering SD & HD version of the same channel in HD pack (say gold entertainment HD in case of d2h) ,they could have save some bucks by just offering the HD version of the Channel ( say only star plus HD, no SD star plus) as these package are mostly subscribed by the uses having LCD/led tv. Any idea friends ??
