The TV environment is a burning heap of trash that only airs marathons and shows from like 20 years ago. TRAI has nothing to do with it.

I stopped watching anything other than News and Sports on TV long back.reason was pathetic content presented on tv on daily basis.Infact i tried to watch some series's on tv just to checked whether i am biased or the programmes are really crap.Turned out the programs were really sh#t and i couldn't muster courage to watch after a day or 2.OTT vs Dumb TV has become a battle of classes just like train travellers vs Plane travellers 20 years back.Thankfully the OTT platform is trying its best to stoop to the level of TV programs and it won't be long before we stop watching anything. :)
100% true...

They do deserve to be shut down. Pathetic quality of broadcasting and content has gone downhill .Overcharging and package designed in a way that consumers feel looted.

I told in past years as well and writing again here.
Why TRAI/BROADCASTERS/DTH-CABLE are not understanding that if we are giving 153 rs. then we want the value worth 153 rs. It's very simple. Just take an example of electricity bill, they charge us minimum balance according to watts and give us the electricity worth that fixed price than if we consume more electricity, then only the bill rise.
Apply this concept here also, in 153 rs fixed price, we want some premium channels that are very common in every household. After this only, if any person wants to watch uncommon channels like MNX, NGC, Sports 18 channels, etc., then only they have to pay extra amount of money for their more specific content.
Let add the concept of "choose your pack" here. In 153 rs, we should've supposed to add very common channels in our basket like Sab, S.Plus, Colors, etc. till the bill touches 153 rs. If we want more, like wanna add Disney Channel (considering POGO & CN are common and Disney & Hungama are uncommon in households), then we should pay 10 or 12 rs (whatever the channel price is) in our bill. So, total should be around 165 rs.
But why the big parties not understanding this ?
I knew at the very beginning when NTO 1.0 came into effect, that they will subortize the consumer even more in near future. So, I installed DDFD when lockdown started. And, when big four broadcasters left, then we installed smart tv. And, trust me , my family watch all the content in 720p and it hardly takes 3-4 gb a day if we watch our specific content only.
