Probably because the text for the timings were not properly visible on that transparent background. Text is in white and it will not be properly seen if anything white comes behind the text.

It is ok like this. One more thing, this channel is the only one to do so. Zee TV does not use this. Also Don't know about the Tamil and Telugu versions doing it or not. My fellow DDFIANS will know better
