Is it true ?
Rumours.
There was some news that a CEO known for his Midas touch is planning to take over the control of a large media company with the help of a venture firm.
Yes. The news circulated many months ago, where the time no indications he exit Star.
I wish Comcast, Fox Corporation or Warner Bros Discovery takes over ZEEL than Sony or anyone else
I don't think any foreign company dare to invest big in Indian television industry. With Disney's (who is the wealthiest & broadest of all) back out, others become more regressive.
All American media conglomerates are in recession so that they are cutting out investments especially in conventional entertainment business (TV). WBD is in heavy struggle looking for a merger with Paramount. Fox already offloaded its biggest asset in India, So a sudden comeback is impossible. Paramount left Viacom 18. Only Comcast is there. Don't know what will be their strategy.

Comcast just offloaded some of their Cable Channels into a separate company.

Why would they acquire a dying company like Zee in India?

WBD has $3.2 Billion cash on hand. They have $40 Billion in debt but they're in no means struggling. They don't have any high interest loans that needs to be paid in the next few years.
