Breaking ZEEL and Sony merger approved by ZEEL board; definitive agreements signed

Can anyone clear me this doubt !?
At international level these types of big merges creates chain reaction. Can we except it even in Indian local market.?

In India NO.. because it has to do with lack of competition..if Sony, Zee merger doesn't happen.its just 5 parent channel's in hindi
B4U, Zee, star, Sony nd Viacom..in English it's just 5 .colors infinity, times( movies now), Sony Pix ,starmovies nd &flix(Zee).less than 4 In South nd regional india. Majority of them r owned by internetional companies .star(Disney),colors(ViacomCBS) both US, Sony (japan) ..these r not indian companies..I'm surprised indian Govt is allowing these mergers to happen with no competition nd companies. We opened new TV channels only after 1995. So less tv channels we have today.in US nd west there r lot of companies which r quiet old from 50s.so merger r not a bad thing..here we have so less companies.so no chain reaction..in future we will end up with 2 channel.1 normal nd other Doordarshan

other channel s rebranding like star maa, suvarna etc happend before 2019 by FOX owned star india..

There were a couple of rebrands for them in 2020 as well.

Utsav gold is UK part of star gold so I think no need to mention it seperately

It’s a separate channel all the same.

I think they will maintain two brands separately for their tv channels for 1 yr or 2 yr.

In Europe too there are big TV mergers happening like TF1 and M6 in France. Do you think those broadcasters will throw out established brands? Both Zee and Sony are too important to be killed.

Zee was not Indian company since 2019 itself. Majority of its stakes were hold by foreign company. Post essel fall

Not Viacom18 but Enterr10. Viacom18 being owned by Ambani doesn’t make it 100% Indian. Enterr10 is a truly Indian network and the extraordinary success of Dangal a couple of years back highlights that. Now, however, since Star Utsav and Zee Anmol are back on DDFD, viewers watch that and not Dangal.

As for South, don’t forget ETV and to an extent Manorama.

But why would he do that ? When he already has an established brand with him

Kalanithi Maran never likes to leave his business . Most of the time he never merged politics with his business but if in this case Ambani did that Kalanithi Maran has also the political power, as he also have politics support from his family ( former TN CM and DMK chief Kalaignar was Grandfather of Kalanithi Maran and current CM MK Stalin was Uncle of Kalanithi Maran) Some news is that in 2015 itself modi threatened Kalanithi Maran to sell the Sun TV Network to Mumbai based business man as Kalanithi Maran denied it Modi govt denied to give security clearance for Sun TV Network's TV channels and FM radio's and block them from bidding for radio FM Channels but he overcamed that's all by going supreme court and almost cleared all the case which where issued on him without involving politics in it, also a big thing he launched his first channel on 1993 which was the period of ADMK-Congrees alliance rule in both State and central and he overcamed this 2015 issue when Modi was in power on central and ADMK was in power on TN, as DMK was opposition of the both parties they can't do anything at that time(2015). Without politics support he have managed it all, now he have a better politics support he never involved politics but if Ambani involve the politics he also may involve politics . So we can't expect any merge or sale from Sun TV Network. Now Sun TV Network have big opportunity to make better and big profits from Flim business and OTT business, also they have big plans for their TV channels.
