Surely, ZEE + Sony merger gives further fuel to fire about Ambani buying out the leftover 49% stake in Viacom18 from CBS by the end of this fiscal year. They're on a wild spree in the sports broadcasting space, buying out every major tournament that goes to the hammer.

This might happen after merger.. remember mergers mostly leads to slim down of content nd focus going on few particular things.these channel's might become 1 new channel
1) &xplor HD / Zee cinemaHD (into premium HD hindi movie channel)
2) Zee classics/Sony max 2 (old movies)
3) Zee bollywood/Sony WAH ( hindi movies)
4) Sony pal/Zee anmol (serial channel)

Sony wah cannot be compared with zee bollywood..zee bollywood is a pure bollywood channel whereas sony wah is younger brother of max where it plays mostly south indian dubbed movies..also sony wah is a fta channel

Disney bought out star inidia , ViacomCBS (then just Viacom) joined 50% partnership with news 18..became viacom18 n launched colors brand...soon WB is reentering india with discovery who has animal planet, Eurosports, ID, JEET prime,discovery kids,TLC etc...(this may or may not happen as Hbo exited india)..that's why japanese Sony is partnering with indian zee.

Bro Sony and Viacom18 merger was gonna happen for that Sony closed its Music and Premium Channels. After Viacom18 cancelled the merger they wanted a new partner and besides Zee They Did not have an option. Sony was losing Hindi films to Disney-Star while Zee was reeling under management and pressures from investors

Star india is not an indian company ....it itself a foreign company

Sony is already strong nd its one of the 4 major broadcasters so it doesnt need another company to survive bcz they have already survived in this market from last 25yrs.... Right now they are doing this merger to expand their business & to give tough fight to disney-Star

More than foreign broadcasters i will say indian local broadcasters needs foreign company to survive thats why zee was so desperate for their merger

Evn networks like dangal & sun can also do well if they merges with foreign broadcasters

Sony-zee will sign a non compete agreement all decisions and formalities will be completed within 90days Sony is losing many movies to other networks and zee has vast library but management is poor they both need each other support.

Sony Zee will keep their established channels and they will scrap non successful channels or merge with other channel.
Hope zee yuva gets shutdown as they are showing only movies and no youth shows and they should not Shutdown Sony Marathi it's better channel for good entertainment has good reality shows better then Zee Marathi.
