It will start when they started along with STAR and ended up with Sony.

It was 1997, two hit serials of Zee called Daastaan and Chattaan which were shot entirely in Dubai, suddenly vanished from the channel.

Later on, after a few months, Sony aired the promos of the two serials with new titles :

Daastaan became Wahi Daastaan.
Chattaan became Yeh hai Chattaan.

Thereafter a legal battle started between the two. And Zee regained their rights of Daastaan and Chattaan.

Moral of the story: once foes, now friends.

This is why govt is going to put restrictions on foreign investment in perticular company. Like as many foreign companies can invest but in certain limitations.

Drama : Zee is Indian company. It's owned by Indian people. No foreign hand can take over zee . #deshkazee

Reality : Zee entertainment has already been sold to foreign investors long back. Infact they ( Invesco ) saved zee from falling to debt . Zee is no longer an Indian company.
Also they are selling their operating rights of zee to Sony which is also a foreign company.
