Public broadcaster Prasar Bharati on Monday announced the conduct of 46th Online E-Auction to allot MPEG-4 slots on DD Free Dish on an annual basis for the period July 1 2020 to 30 June 2021. DD Free Dish has also extended the last date for submission of online applications for pro-rata allotment of MPEG-2 slots of DD Free Dish.
As for the MPEG-2 slots pro-rata basis allotment E-Auction, Prasar Bharati has extended the last date to submit online applications. Earlier, the last date to submit applications was until 3 PM today which is now extended by another 24 hours. The E-Auction if necessary will now be held on 3rd June 2020.
The MPEG-4 E-Auction will tentatively be held on 16th June with the last date to submit applications till 15th June 3 PM. Prasar Bharati has invited the applications for allotment on an annual basis from July 1 to 30th June 2021. The bidding price will start at a reserve price of Rs 5 Lakhs. A non-refundable processing fee of Rs 25,000 and a participation fee of Rs 1.25 Lakhs is to be paid for participation in the E-Auction.
With FTA broadcasters seeing a major downfall in its revenue caused by the massive downfall in advertisement time, it remains to be seen if the E-Auction will attract any broadcaster or not. FTA broadcasters have been exiting the state run FTA DTH platform with Prasar Bharati’s relaxation of deferred payment seemingly not offering much support to the FTA broadcasters.
